I have been on different platforms and the big platforms like X and even YouTube, TikTok, etc. are especially suffering the most from this fake AI content, it's very bad. There are some content that aim to spread disinformation but also content like cat videos and all. But you can tell they are fake, some of them have watermark to tell you it's AI but others don't and those posting it try to pass it as real content.
Most AI content I see feels like it has no soul like I get this kind of vibe from it. Sometimes videos look very realistic but I have a feeling they are AI and more often than not I am right on point.
This applies especially in any kind of artistic content. I think it removes the fun and creativity from such content by typing prompts to try to generate something you want. You will not always get what you want but maybe if you're lucky you'll get something that is, good enough.
Since it can create a lot of content very quickly you end up seeing a lot of low quality content online that is AI generated that sometimes overpowers original content or anything made by people. This just makes for a bad experience, in general. Not only that but to run AI you need a lot of power and big AI companies are building big datacenters that not only collect data but also uses it to train AI and AI uses a lot of power which is bad for the environment and really doesn't benefit people that much
There are some things I like I think can be helpful. Like if I search for something on a search engine I can get a quick answer and if I doubt the authenticity of my answer I can check the source that the AI got the information from. This has been useful and saving some time. Or if I want to write something I can pass it through an AI to help me review my text or see if I made any claims that could be wrong. Another use can be to sort pictures or search a picture collection that has specific elements in it like a tree, a dog, cat, etc. There are many good things I think are good about it and useful but unfortunately it's often misused and just ruins the online experience of a lot of people. Especially on bigger platforms.
While there are a few good uses for it I like, it frustrates me more than anything and there doesn't really seem to be a way to regulate it to fix all the issues I have with it, so I think it would be better if it didn't exist.
